Located in Werribee on the outskirts of Melbourne amongst steel suppliers and car servicing outlets is one of Australia's largest producers of Barramundi. They are Mainstream Barramundi, and we here at The Good News think they are the best!
With a mission to “feed the world with premium, sustainably produced, and nutritious fish”, Mainstream has been operating out of a large shed since 2001 and they have really honed their operations. They grow barramundi in massive tanks utilising Australia’s largest recirculating aquaculture system which safely removes the waste from the water. They are also actively involved in research and development around water recovery and reuse.
Not only do they produce tasty sustainable Australian barramundi in pristine water conditions, but they also have the world’s largest hatchery for barramundi and are the largest producer of fingerlings in the world, producing 30 million a year, and distributing to 17 different countries. This is a great feat considering how hard it is to grow juvenile barramundi!
Make sure your grocery list includes Australian sustainably farmed barramundi like the ones produced at Mainstream Barramundi!
